A BentoBox game mode of sea trading, smuggling, and piracy

Report TradeWinds?

R

0.1.0

The first release of TradeWinds, a sea-trading game mode for BentoBox. An endless, procedurally generated ocean scattered with NPC trading islands: you start with a rowing boat and a pocketful of coal, and the boat is your cargo hold. Buy low, sell high — honestly, or otherwise — and answer for it at customs. If you ever lost a weekend to Elite or TradeWars 2002, this is that feeling, rebuilt in Minecraft.

Highlights

🏝️ An endless seeded ocean. Every island's position, economy, tech level, security band, biome and name derives from a single number — ocean.seed. Share the seed and another server gets the same world. The spawn island's biome is the one direct aesthetic knob (ocean.spawn-island-biome).

The boat IS the hold. One player, one boat, twenty hull ranks from Bamboo Raft to Pale Oak Chest Boat. Cargo lives in the ship; losing the ship means something. Boats can be traded in, bought outright, captured, stolen at anchor in lawless water — and every lifecycle event is written to an admin logbook, with /twadmin boat <player> [restore] for the day someone asks where theirs went.

📈 A market worth reading. Eight island personalities buy and sell differently; every trade drifts the local price; whole-coin rounding never lets the spread close. Enchanted, renamed and worn goods are priced as the individual items they are, and notable goods resurface on neighbouring ports' secondhand shelves.

Two ways to travel, both fair. Rowing is free and charts everything you pass. Warping burns hold-carried fuel at the island border — and a small misjump chance drops you into the Interstice, a hostile nether sea that became a destination: nether wart shoals, blaze pickets, wither watchtowers, and a ship graveyard glowing with soul flames over nether-tier loot. Re-engaging the warp out is always free.

🚨 Crime pays you into danger. Reputation bands, customs scans, contraband that only sells where the law is thin, fines to come clean, police that never drop loot, and bounties collectible where fugitives are forced to trade.

🎖️ Progression that reads like a sea story. Chart islands to climb the 19-rank Seafarer ladder, then claim a wild islet of your own at Tide Captain: protection, team, a members-only warp node, and a course home you can steer by the stars.
