Dynamic view distance and simulation distance adjustment per world, driven by what your server can actually carry at that moment.

A configuration change: auto-update is now off by default, and the notification setting has a name that says what it does.

Changed

• auto-update is off by default. Installing a new version unattended is a decision an admin should make deliberately rather than inherit from a default. Set auto-update.enabled: true if you would rather not think about updates again — the feature itself is unchanged and still verifies every download against Modrinth's published SHA-512 before staging it.

  This only affects new installations. If you already have a config.yml from 2.8, 2.8.1 or 2.8.2, it contains enabled: true as a literal value and will keep updating automatically. Change it by hand if you want it off.

• update-checker is now called update-notify, because that is what it does: it tells you a new version exists, it never installs anything. The old key still works, so an existing config that switched it off stays quiet. Nothing to change unless you want to.

• /vdt update download still fetches an update on demand whatever these settings say, so turning auto-update off costs you nothing in convenience.
