Fishing minigame with custom fish, rods, bait, progression, skills, economy & tournaments.
π£ PhoenixFish v1.2.0
A major progression update introducing Skills, Environmental Factors, Weight & Records, Economy, and Tournaments.
PhoenixFish v1.2.0 transforms the fishing experience with several major systems designed to add progression, exploration, economy, competition, and long-term goals.
β¨ What's New
π³ Skill Tree
Players now earn 1 Skill Point every time they level up their fishing level.
Open the Skill Tree with:
/phoenixfish skills
Available skills:
| Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
| Fast Catcher | Minigame progress bar fills 0.5% faster per level |
| Master Hunter | Increases rare/epic fish chance by 2% per level |
| Double Catch | 10% chance per level to catch 2 fish at once |
| Lucky Bait | 20% chance per level to avoid consuming bait |
- Each skill can be upgraded up to Level 5.
- Skill Points are earned automatically when gaining a fishing level.
π Environmental Factors
Fishing is now affected by the environment, including weather and biomes.
π§οΈ Weather System
| Weather | Effect |
|---|---|
| Rain | +20% catch luck |
| Thunderstorm | +50% catch luck and significantly increased rare fish odds |
Configuration values:
rain-luck-bonus: 0.2
storm-luck-bonus: 0.5
π² Biome System
Fish can now be restricted to specific Minecraft biomes through fish.yml.
Example:
biomes:
- SNOWY_PLAINS
- ICE_SPIKES
This allows special fish to only be caught in specific environments.
Examples:
- βοΈ Ice Fish β
SNOWY_PLAINS,ICE_SPIKES - π Lava Fish β Nether biomes such as
BASALT_DELTAS
Fish without a biome restriction can still be caught anywhere.
Fully backward compatible with existing fish configurations.
π Fishing Level System
Fishing now includes an XP-based progression system.
- Each level requires
Current Level Γ 100XP. - Every level grants +2% catch luck.
- Players receive 1 Skill Point for every level gained.
Example:
Level 1 β 100 XP
Level 2 β 200 XP
Level 3 β 300 XP
...
βοΈ Weight System
Every fish now has an individual weight, making catches valuable not only because of their species, but also because of their size.
How It Works
Each fish can define a minimum and maximum weight in fish.yml:
min-weight: 0.5
max-weight: 5.0
When a fish is caught, PhoenixFish randomly generates a decimal weight between these values.
Example:
Carp β 3.42 kg
The generated weight is automatically added to the fish's lore:
Weight: 3.42 kg
π° Economy Integration
Weight directly affects the fish's selling price.
Sale Price = Base Price Γ Fish Weight
For example, if a Carp has a base price of $10:
0.5 kg β $5
5.0 kg β $50
A 5.0 kg Carp is therefore worth 10Γ more than a 0.5 kg Carp of the same species.
This gives players another reason to keep fishing and search for bigger catches.
π Record System
The Weight System also introduces a competitive Record System.
Fish records are stored in records.yml, creating two different record categories.
π₯ Personal Best (PB)
A Personal Best is created when:
- A player catches a fish species for the first time.
- A player catches a heavier fish of a species they have caught before.
When a new personal record is achieved, the player receives an Action Bar notification:
Congratulations! New Personal Best: 4.12 kg!
A level-up sound is also played to celebrate the achievement.
π Server Record / World Record
A Server Record is created when a player catches the heaviest fish of that species ever caught on the server.
This is a much rarer achievement.
When a new server record is set, the entire server receives a broadcast:
π [Player] has set a new Server Record!
Fish: Legendary Shark
Weight: 125.8 kg!
The player who breaks the record also receives the special:
UI_TOAST_CHALLENGE_COMPLETE
achievement sound.
πΎ Record Data
Records are safely stored in:
records.yml
The data persists across server restarts, so existing records are never lost.
Record data includes:
- Record holder
- Fish species
- Fish weight
- Record information
Record file operations are performed asynchronously to minimize the impact on server performance.
π° Economy & Selling System
PhoenixFish now supports economy integration through Vault.
New selling commands:
/phoenixfish sell hand
/phoenixfish sell all
/phoenixfish sell menu
Commands
sell handβ Sells the fish currently held in the player's hand.sell allβ Sells all supported fish in the player's inventory.sell menuβ Opens a GUI where players can select and confirm fish to sell.
A new Sell button has also been added to the Catalog menu.
Price Calculation
Fish prices are calculated using:
Price = Base Price Γ Fish Weight
π Tournament System
Administrators can now host timed fishing competitions.
Start a Tournament
/phoenixfish tournament start <minutes>
Stop a Tournament
/phoenixfish tournament stop
Add a Tournament Reward
The item currently held in the player's hand can be set as the reward for a specific tournament placement.
/phoenixfish tournament addreward <place>
Example:
/phoenixfish tournament addreward 1
This sets the item currently held in the player's hand as the 1st place reward.
Tournament rankings can be based on:
- π£ Total catch count
- π Fish rarity
Rewards are distributed to the top 3 players when the tournament ends.
π οΈ Admin & Testing Commands
Add Fishing Levels
/phoenixfish addlevel <amount>
Directly modifies a player's fishing level for testing or administration.
Give a Custom Rod
/phoenixfish giverod <rod_name>
Gives the player a configured custom fishing rod.
