UnderwaterTrees 2.0.0 brings the plugin to Minecraft 26.3 and upgrades your 1.x setup automatically. Poplar and pale oak saplings can be planted underwater, dark and pale oaks grow with their full trunk, and saplings now grow even on the dark deep-sea floor. Underwater planting respects land protection.

Compatibility & upgrade

• Minecraft 26.3: Requires Paper 26.3 and Java 25.
• Automatic upgrade: Your 1.x files are backed up to backup-1.x/, and fresh commented files keep every setting you changed.
• New setting names: Settings now use snake_case, and update_check.sources is now update_check.provider; the upgrade renames them for you.
• Timberella 2.0.0: Felled underwater trees are replanted into the water.

New features

• New saplings: Poplar and pale oak saplings can be planted underwater.
• Full trunks: Dark and pale oaks grow underwater with their full trunk, and protection plugins can forbid that growth.
• Deep-sea growth: Saplings on the dark deep-sea floor grow too (growth_light_override.minimum_level now defaults to 0).
• Land protection: Underwater planting respects land protection, spawn protection and adventure mode; the new permission underwatertrees.place can turn it off.
• Off-hand planting: Saplings can be planted from the off hand, and /underwatertrees version shows the version.

Improvements

• No sapling walls: Sapling protection only holds back water at underwater saplings.
• Config stays yours: Updates add new settings with their comments, and a file with a YAML error is never overwritten.
• 14 languages: Messages match Timberella and are translated into 14 languages.

Fixes

• No lag spikes: The growth light override no longer causes lag spikes.
• Growth for all: Underwater saplings keep getting growth help, even with more than 64 of them.
• No land planting: Saplings are no longer placed on land by mistake.

• MIT License: UnderwaterTrees is now MIT-licensed, by kroet.net; the Java package is now net.kroet.underwatertrees.
• Docs & build: Corrected README and wiki; built and tested against Paper 26.3 build 49.
