Unofficial DHSupport build for Distant Horizons 3.3.x / protocol 16. Multiplayer tested; GPL source included.
DHSupportCompat
Unofficial DHSupport compatibility build for Distant Horizons 3.3.x clients using network protocol 16. Intended to fix the “Server is outdated” warning with older DHSupport server plugins.
What it does
Sends distant Level Of Detail (LOD) data from a Paper server to players with a compatible Distant Horizons client.
Build version: 0.15.0-local-protocol16. This is an unofficial community build, with no upstream endorsement.
Upstream credit and changes
Based on Distant Horizons Server Plugin, developed by Jim C K Flaten and upstream contributors, at develop commit 04fc2e17f9c04e717a1e09997c3201ac5bab9e53.
That upstream branch includes protocol-16 support. Local changes finalize compressed XZ LOD streams correctly, report compression failures explicitly, add protocol compatibility tests, and identify this build as unofficial. Original notices are preserved. The complete corresponding source is available under GPL-3.0-or-later.
AI disclosure: AI created this build from the existing upstream source under the publisher’s instructions. The publisher personally tested it in live multiplayer and reported that it worked well.
Install in three steps
- Download the JAR, stop the server, and back up the previous DHSupport JAR and its plugin data.
- Replace the old DHSupport JAR in
plugins/, keeping only one version. Restart using the Java version required by your Paper server; this plugin is compiled for Java 21. - Join using a protocol-16 Distant Horizons client and check distant LOD delivery. To roll back, stop the server and restore both the old JAR and its backed-up data.
Testing
The publisher reported successful live multiplayer testing on October 6, 2026. The publisher described the setup as the newest Minecraft, Paper, and Distant Horizons versions and reported that everything worked, including joining and distant LOD delivery. Exact version/build numbers were not captured, and no gameplay video was supplied. A clean build passed 36 automated tests.
DH 3.3.3 for Minecraft 26.2 and DH 3.3.4 for Minecraft 26.3 were separately checked for network protocol 16. These were artifact/protocol checks, not recorded full multiplayer test runs.
