# WirelessSystem ## Wireless redstone control for Minecraft servers WirelessSystem lets you control redstone-powered mechanisms from anywhere on your server. Register a sign as a named wireless channel, then activate it with a command. When activated, the sign temporarily becomes a redstone torch and automatically restores its original block type, orientation, and text. It is useful for theme parks, rides, gates, doors, lighting systems, show control, and any redstone build where a physical wire would be inconvenient. ## Features - Create named wireless channels from signs in-game. - Activate channels from any location with a short command. - Four activation modes: one-second pulse, timed pulse, delayed pulse, and toggle. - Restore the original sign, text, block type, and block orientation automatically. - Browse registered channels and click their coordinates to teleport to them. - Tab completion for subcommands, channel names, and channel types. - Persistent channel data stored in YAML files. - Works with Paper and Spigot servers using the Minecraft 1.20 API. ## Requirements - Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.x - Paper or Spigot 1.20.x - Java 17 or newer No additional plugin is required. ## Installation 1. Download `WirelessSystem.jar`. 2. Stop your server. 3. Place the JAR in the server's `plugins` folder. 4. Start the server once. 5. Grant permissions to your staff and players as needed. The plugin creates its files in `plugins/WirelessSystem/` on first startup. ## Quick start This example creates a channel named `gate` that emits a one-second redstone pulse. 1. Place a sign at the location where the redstone signal should be produced. 2. Stand within five blocks and look directly at the sign. 3. Register the sign: ```text /wsc gate normal ``` 4. Activate it from anywhere: ```text /wsa gate ``` The sign becomes a redstone torch for one second and then returns to its original state. 5. Remove the channel when it is no longer needed: ```text /wsd gate ``` **Warning:** deleting a channel also removes its sign block from the world. ## Channel types Create a channel with: ```text /wsc [seconds] ``` The name must be unique. Creating a channel with an existing name replaces that channel's saved location and settings. | Type | Example | Behaviour | | --- | --- | --- | | `normal` | `/wsc gate normal` | Activates immediately for one second, then restores the sign. | | `switch` | `/wsc lights switch` | Activates immediately and stays on. Run the activation command again to turn it off. | | `waiter` | `/wsc door waiter 5` | Activates immediately and restores the sign after five seconds. | | `delayer` | `/wsc show delayer 5` | Waits five seconds, activates, and restores the sign five seconds later. | The `seconds` argument is required for `waiter` and `delayer`. It must be a positive whole number and is not allowed for `normal` or `switch`. ## Commands ### Main command | Command | Description | Permission | | --- | --- | --- | | `/ws` | Show command usage. | None | | `/ws create [seconds]` | Create or replace a channel using the sign you are looking at. | `ws.create` | | `/ws delete ` | Delete a channel and remove its sign block. | `ws.delete` | | `/ws activate ` | Activate a channel. | `ws.use` | | `/ws channels` | List registered channels and clickable teleport coordinates. | `ws.channels` | | `/ws info` | Show plugin information. | `ws.info` | | `/ws help` | Show the available commands. | `ws.help` | | `/ws reload` | Reload the plugin configuration and saved channel data. | `ws.reload` | | `/ws messages` | Enable or disable plugin messages for the sender. | `ws.messages` | | `/ws list` | Alias for `/ws channels`. | `ws.channels` | | `/ws toggle` | Alias for `/ws messages`. | `ws.messages` | ### Short aliases | Command | Equivalent to | Permission | | --- | --- | --- | | `/wsc [seconds]` | `/ws create` | `ws.create` | | `/wsa ` | `/ws activate` | `ws.use` | | `/wsd ` | `/ws delete` | `ws.delete` | | `/wsr` | `/ws reload` | `ws.reload` | | `/wsh` | `/ws help` | `ws.help` | | `/wsi` | `/ws info` | `ws.info` | | `/wsm` | `/ws messages` | `ws.messages` | The create command must be run by a player who is looking at a sign from no more than five blocks away. The info, help, and channels commands are also player-only. Channel activation can be run by a player or by the console. ## Permissions | Permission | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | `ws.*` | Operators | Grants all WirelessSystem permissions. | | `ws.use` | Everyone | Activate registered channels. | | `ws.help` | Everyone | View the help command. | | `ws.info` | Everyone | View plugin information. | | `ws.create` | Operators | Create or replace channels. | | `ws.delete` | Operators | Delete channels and their sign blocks. | | `ws.reload` | Operators | Reload configuration and saved channel data. | | `ws.channels` | Operators | View registered channels and their coordinates. | | `ws.messages` | Operators | Toggle plugin messages. | For a simple staff setup, give operators `ws.*` and leave `ws.use` available to regular players. ## Storage WirelessSystem stores its data in `plugins/WirelessSystem/`: - `signs.yml` contains channel names, types, delays, and locations. - `sign-memory.yml` stores the original sign text and block data used during restoration. - `config.yml` contains the message setting. Keep these files together when moving or backing up the plugin. If you edit them manually, run `/ws reload` afterwards. ## Important notes - Activating a channel replaces the sign with a redstone torch or redstone wall torch temporarily. - Do not break or replace the channel block while it is active. - The sign must remain in the same world and at the same coordinates. - Redstone power depends on the torch's placement and the surrounding blocks. Test each channel before using it in a live ride or attraction. - Deleting a channel removes the registered sign block from the world. ## Support and feedback When reporting a problem, include the server software and version, Java version, plugin version, command used, and relevant console error. Screenshots of the sign placement and surrounding redstone can also help diagnose signal issues.
