--- ## 📖 Overview Have you ever collected a custom player head with a unique name, detailed lore, or custom model data, only to lose all that information after placing it as a decorative block and breaking it again? Vanilla Minecraft does not preserve the complete original item data when a player head is converted into a placed block. As a result, custom head items may lose important metadata when mined. **EpicSkullKeeper solves this problem by preserving the original head item's data and restoring it when the head is broken.** Whether you use player heads as trophies, decorative blocks, collectibles, or custom items generated by other plugins, EpicSkullKeeper helps keep their original data intact. ## ✨ Features ### 📦 Complete Item Data Preservation EpicSkullKeeper preserves the original head item data when a player places a head and later breaks it. Supported data includes: - **Custom Display Names** — Preserve custom item names. - **Lore** — Keep descriptions, statistics, and other lore lines. - **Player Skins** — Preserve player head profile information. - **CustomModelData** — Retain custom model metadata. - **PersistentDataContainer (PDC)** — Preserve compatible persistent item data. - **Other Plugin Metadata** — Retain serialized ItemStack data written by compatible plugins. ### 🔄 Automatic Restoration No manual commands or additional player actions are required. 1. A player places a custom player head. 2. EpicSkullKeeper saves the original item data to the placed head's block entity. 3. Minecraft saves the block data with its chunk. 4. When the head is broken, EpicSkullKeeper restores the original item. 5. The recovered head retains its saved metadata. ### 💾 No Database or Configuration Required EpicSkullKeeper is designed to work immediately after installation. - No configuration files to edit. - No database setup. - No SQLite, MySQL, or external storage dependency. - No separate plugin data files required. - Uses Minecraft's own chunk-saving mechanism to persist the stored head data. ### 🛡️ Anti-Duplication Design EpicSkullKeeper replaces the vanilla head drop rather than creating an additional item. This helps prevent duplicate drops and is designed to handle common edge cases, including: - Creative-mode block breaking. - Other plugins cancelling block-break events. - Silk Touch interactions. - Auto-pickup plugins. ### 🔌 Plugin Compatibility EpicSkullKeeper is designed to work alongside compatible player-head plugins and custom item systems. It is particularly useful with **EpicBeheading**, allowing player heads obtained through PvP kills to retain their custom names, lore, and supported item metadata when placed and subsequently mined. ## 🧩 How It Works EpicSkullKeeper stores the serialized original ItemStack data in the placed head's block entity using its PersistentDataContainer. ```text Original Custom Player Head | v Place Head | v Capture Original ItemStack Data | v Store Data in Block Entity PDC | v Minecraft Saves the Chunk | v Break Head | v Read and Deserialize Saved Data | v Replace Vanilla Drop with Original Item ``` This approach avoids the need for a separate database or external storage service. ## 📥 Installation 1. Download EpicSkullKeeper from SpigotMC. 2. Place the `.jar` file in your server's `plugins` directory. 3. Start or restart your Minecraft server. 4. Place and break a custom player head to verify that its metadata is preserved. **That's it!** No additional configuration is necessary. ## 🎮 Usage Example Imagine a player receives a custom trophy head from EpicBeheading. The original item contains: ```text Name: Epic Head Lore: Killed by: Steve Special Trophy Custom Skin: Preserved Custom Item Data: Preserved ``` Without data preservation, placing and mining the head may result in the loss of its custom name, lore, or other item metadata. With EpicSkullKeeper: - Place the trophy head as a decorative block. - Break the block when you want to move it. - Recover the original head with its saved metadata. Your trophies and custom head collections remain useful as both decorative blocks and collectible items. ## 🌍 Compatibility - **Platforms:** Paper, Spigot, Purpur - **Tested Minecraft versions:** 1.13–1.21.x, including 1.20.6, and 26.1–26.3 - **Dependencies:** No external database or configuration dependency - **Commands:** None - **Permissions:** None required See the [official SpigotMC resource page](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/%E2%9A%94-epicskullkeeper-%E2%9A%99%EF%B8%8F-keep-player-head-lore-data-%E2%9A%99%EF%B8%8F.138180/) for the latest compatibility information. ## 🔗 Links - **SpigotMC:** [EpicSkullKeeper](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/%E2%9A%94-epicskullkeeper-%E2%9A%99%EF%B8%8F-keep-player-head-lore-data-%E2%9A%99%EF%B8%8F.138180/) - **Related Plugin:** [EpicBeheading](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/138148/) - **Author:** QuantifyingEpic - **GitHub:** [kobayashi-007](https://github.com/kobayashi-007) ## ❤️ Support the Project If EpicSkullKeeper helps your server, consider leaving a rating or review on SpigotMC.
