mcGPT brings AI-powered Minecraft command generation directly into your server. Server operators can describe what they want in plain language, and mcGPT generates a ready-to-use Minecraft Java Edition command instantly.

The plugin supports multiple AI models via Groq, allows easy model switching, and integrates seamlessly with chat using clickable command output.

Configuration & Setup

1. Create a Groq API Key

Go to https://groq.com/

Click Start Building

Create a new account or log in

Navigate to the API Keys section

Generate a new API key and copy it

2. Set the API Key in Minecraft

Start your Minecraft server

In-game, run:

/api

The API key is stored locally on the server machine and is not shared externally.

3. Select an AI Model

Choose the AI model you want to use:

/ai

You can cycle through available models using Tab completion.

Based on testing, the openai/gpt-oss-20b model provides the best balance of:

Token usage

Response speed

Accuracy

4. Start Using the AI

Once setup is complete, you can send prompts to the AI with:

/gpt

The request will be sent to the selected AI model, and the response will be returned directly in-game.
