# VertexCore VertexCore is a shared **core and library plugin for Paper servers**. It provides reusable infrastructure for other plugins and is designed to reduce duplicated boilerplate for common systems such as configuration handling, database access, and command execution. > **VertexCore is not a gameplay plugin.** > > It is intended to be installed as a dependency for plugins that use the VertexCore API. --- ## Features ### Configuration System - Annotation-based configuration definitions - Automatic configuration file generation and loading - Default values and validation - Configuration comments - Direct mapping between configuration files and Java objects ### Database System VertexCore provides a common persistence layer with support for: - JSON flat-file storage - H2 - MySQL - MariaDB - Synchronous and asynchronous access - Database migrations - Configurable database backends ### Command System - Centralized command infrastructure - Root commands and subcommands - Argument injection and resolvers - Permission handling - Command visibility - Tab completion --- ## Requirements - **Paper 1.21.4 or newer** - **Java 21 or newer** VertexCore itself is compiled for Java 21. The Java version required by your Paper version still applies. Newer Paper releases may therefore require a newer Java runtime independently of VertexCore. ### Verified compatibility | Paper | Java | Status | | --- | --- | --- | | 1.21.4 | 21 | Verified | | 26.2 | 25 | Verified | The same VertexCore JAR is runtime-tested at both compatibility endpoints. --- ## Installation 1. Download the latest VertexCore release. 2. Place the JAR in your server's `plugins` directory. 3. Restart the server. 4. Install a plugin that uses VertexCore.
