A modern continuation of Modifyworld for Paper servers, with fine-grained permission control over player actions.

Report Modifyworld-Reloaded?

Modifyworld-Reloaded

Modifyworld-Reloaded brings fine-grained, permission-based control over player actions to modern Paper servers.

It is an unofficial community continuation of PEXPlugins/Modifyworld, originally created by t3hk0d3 and its contributors, updated for Paper 26.2 and Java 25.

What does it do?

Modifyworld checks player permissions before allowing supported actions. This lets you define what different groups can do, including different rules for individual worlds through LuckPerms contexts.

For example, you can allow ordinary building while restricting TNT placement, lava buckets, ignition tools, or the removal of specific items from containers.

Blocks and interactions

  • Control block placement and destruction by material.
  • Control interactions with blocks and entities.
  • Check which item a player uses on a specific block or entity.
  • Control bucket filling and emptying, including water, lava and other supported contents.
  • Restrict player-caused fire ignition and spawn-egg use.

Items, crafting and inventories

  • Control item pickup, dropping, holding and possession.
  • Restrict crafting and enchanting by material.
  • Control throwing supported items such as snowballs, eggs and potions.
  • Restrict inserting or removing specific items from different container types.
  • Handle common transfer methods, including shift-clicks, dragging, hotbar swaps, offhand swaps and double-click collection.

Other player actions

Additional permission checks cover chat, sneaking, sprinting, beds, food-level changes, taming, mob targeting, damage and vehicle interactions.

Permissions and world-specific rules

Permissions use modern material names instead of legacy numeric IDs, for example:

  • modifyworld.blocks.place.tnt
  • modifyworld.bucket.empty.lava
  • modifyworld.items.craft.tnt
  • modifyworld.items.take.tnt.of.chest

LuckPerms is the recommended permissions provider. Modifyworld uses Bukkit permission checks, while LuckPerms resolves groups, inheritance, explicit denials, wildcards and world contexts.

Configure both allowed and denied actions. Modifyworld is not a blacklist where everything unlisted is automatically allowed.

Working alongside WorldGuard

WorldGuard remains responsible for region protection. Modifyworld adds permission checks and respects actions already cancelled by other plugins.

This makes it useful for combining region protection with restrictions based on player groups, materials and worlds.

Configuration and messages

  • Configurable denial messages.
  • Seven bundled languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Turkish.
  • Optional OP bypass, disabled by default.
  • Automatic configuration migration with backups.
  • Migration of legacy custom messages into a separate language file.

Legacy numeric permissions must be converted separately. Configuration changes require a server restart.

Requirements and beta status

  • Paper 26.2
  • Java 25
  • LuckPerms recommended
  • WorldGuard optional

Currently in beta. Manual server testing is ongoing. Newer Paper versions have not yet been verified. Spigot and Folia are not supported targets.

Back up your configuration and permissions, and test the intended rules with a non-OP account before relying on them.

Scope

Modifyworld focuses on supported player actions. Automated processes such as hopper transfers and dispensers, natural fire spread, and TNT chain reactions are outside its general player-permission model.

Use appropriate WorldGuard or server rules for those cases. Custom inventories, recipes and interactions introduced by other plugins should be tested with your server setup.

The GitHub README contains the complete permission reference, configuration details, migration guidance and known limitations.
