Every new world starts in a cozy gazebo, with lanterns, benches and a starter chest, built from the local wood.
Spawn Gazebo
Every new world starts in a cozy gazebo. The first thing your players see is a little round stone gazebo at the world spawn: pillars of the local wood, a copper dome, lanterns, benches and a starter chest. Nothing to install on their side.
For server owners
- Players need nothing. It is a plain Paper plugin: drop
spawn-gazebo-paper-<version>.jarinplugins, start the server, and the next brand-new world begins in the gazebo. Vanilla clients, modded clients, Bedrock players through Geyser: all the same. - Vanilla blocks only. The gazebo is stone, logs, copper, lanterns and a chest. Remove the plugin and the world is an ordinary world with a nice building at spawn.
- Built once, then idle. The gazebo goes up when the world is created. After that the plugin only listens for the handful of events that could damage it. No timers, no repeating tasks.
- Five settings, one file.
plugins/SpawnGazebo/config.yml: whether to build the gazebo, whether it gets a starter chest, what the chest holds (the kit, vanilla's bonus chest loot, or any loot table id), whether the gazebo is protected, and how far the protection reaches. - One permission, one command.
/spawngazebo build(permissionspawngazebo.build, operators by default) raises a gazebo where you stand in a world you already have, after aconfirmwithin 30 seconds. The world spawn and the protection move to it.
What players get
- A round gazebo at the world spawn: a stepped plinth, pillars of stripped logs, arched openings on four sides and a weathered copper dome with a lightning rod. Inside, a lit floor, two benches, potted saplings and decorated pots with seeds and saplings to break open.
- Built from what grows there. The pillars and benches are the wood nearest the spawn: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, pale oak or bamboo. With no tree in sight it takes the wood the biome is known for: spruce in the snow, cherry in a cherry grove. In deserts and badlands the stone is sandstone and the dome a browner copper.
- A starter chest in the railing, like vanilla's bonus chest: a bed, torches, bread, saplings and a bundle. Players who join later are each handed their own roll of the kit, so nobody arrives to an empty chest.
- Lanterns under the eaves and beside the steps, so the spawn is lit at night.
- It stays as built. Survival players can't break or build inside the protected radius,
and creepers, fire, pistons and buckets leave it alone. The chest, the benches and the pots
still work. Turn
protectGazebooff to remodel it.
Settings
plugins/SpawnGazebo/config.yml is written on the first start:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
spawnGazebo |
true |
Build the gazebo when a brand-new world is created. |
starterChest |
true |
Put the starter chest in the railing. |
chestLoot |
starter_kit |
starter_kit, bonus_chest, or any loot table id such as minecraft:chests/village/village_plains_house. |
protectGazebo |
true |
Only creative can change it; explosions, fire, pistons and buckets leave it alone. |
protectedRadius |
12 |
Blocks from the gazebo's middle that are protected (7 is the gazebo itself, up to 64). |
The first three only matter the first time the server starts a new world. The protection settings are read when the server starts.
Good to know
- Needs Paper 26.3 and Java 25. Not tested on Folia.
- The same gazebo ships as a Fabric and NeoForge mod for Minecraft 26.3 and 1.21.1, on CurseForge. The mod has two extras the plugin doesn't: an in-game settings screen, and Lootr support (everyone gets their own chest). On a Paper server, the per-player kit on first join covers the same need.
- Source and issues are on GitHub. MIT licence.
I made this for my own worlds: a new world should feel like arriving somewhere, not being dropped in the wild. Found a bug or have an idea? Open an issue on GitHub.
