Slimefun4 continued for modern Paper servers, preserving classic gameplay, machines, items, and addon support.
4.1.64
๐ Slimefun Legacy 4.1.64
Everything new since 4.1.61
Slimefun Legacy has received a major round of compatibility, preservation, stability, addon, and modernization work since 4.1.61! ๐
๐ Note: 4.1.62 was not published as a standalone stable release. That work was rolled into 4.1.63, followed by the additional fixes in 4.1.64.
The focus remains the same: keep classic Slimefun working, preserve existing servers and items, modernize the codebase, and make Slimefun Legacy dependable on modern Minecraft versions. ๐
๐ก๏ธ Existing World & Item Preservation
A huge amount of work went into making upgrades safer for established servers.
- ๐ Preserved existing Slimefun item IDs and research IDs
- ๐พ Preserved storage identities, inventories and persisted data
- ๐ Improved protection for existing backpacks and owner data
- ๐งฑ Hardened machine/block storage compatibility
- ๐๏ธ Improved handling of older serialized items and data
- ๐ซ Incomplete or failed inventory reads are no longer treated as empty inventories that can accidentally overwrite recoverable data
- ๐พ Item data is staged more safely before database writes
- ๐ง Item Doctor repairs preserve existing charge and custom metadata whenever possible
- ๐ค Improved preservation of addon-created machine/player profiles
- ๐ Added additional old-version โ upgrade โ restart compatibility testing
No unnecessary conversion of existing worlds or Slimefun identities is performed.
๐๏ธ Storage Persistence Fix
4.1.64 fixes an important edge case involving cancelled block removals.
Previously, a deleted setting could disappear from the live cache but remain in the database and potentially return after a server restart.
This has now been corrected. โ
- Pending deletions reach the normal persistence scheduler
- Empty strings remain legitimate stored values
- No new database format was introduced
- No new persisted storage marker was added
- Existing storage identities remain unchanged
๐ Legacy Item Color Fix
Legacy item colors are back! ๐จ
The modern Adventure-based text system now correctly handles the older formatting styles still used by Slimefun addons.
This includes:
- ๐ Traditional
ยงcolor formatting - ๐จ Valid
&color codes - โจ Legacy/Bungee-style RGB formatting
- ๐ช Better compatibility with MagicExpansion and other older addons
This fixes cases where item names or lore displayed the actual color-code characters instead of their intended colors.
And importantly:
No item IDs, recipes, persistent keys, or saved-data formats were changed.
๐ Slimefun Guide Improvements
Several guide compatibility and organization problems have been addressed.
- ๐ Fixed child addon categories/folders appearing incorrectly in the main guide
- ๐ Preserved recipe browsing and reverse-recipe searching
- ๐ Improved compatibility with maintained JustEnoughGuide builds
- ๐งฉ Preserved guide ownership and registration APIs for addons
- ๐ First-join guide behavior remains controlled correctly
- ๐ ๏ธ Existing customized layouts are protected where possible
๐งช Much Stronger Upgrade Testing
Slimefun Legacy now has considerably more automated compatibility testing aimed specifically at protecting existing servers.
Testing now covers areas such as:
- ๐ฐ๏ธ Older Slimefun item formats
- ๐ Upgrade and restart behavior
- ๐พ Typed persistent data
- ๐งฑ Saved block/machine information
- ๐ Storage and inventory preservation
- ๐งฉ Addon compatibility
- โ Java compatibility
- ๐ฆ Reproducible release builds
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Multiple supported Paper versions
Historical-format fixtures can create older-style data and then verify that identities survive upgrades and restarts.
๐งฐ /sf doctor & Recovery Improvements
Recovery and diagnostics continue to become a major part of Slimefun Legacy.
The goal is simple:
Unreadable data should be investigated โ not silently replaced with an empty inventory.
Additional protections have been added around:
- Failed storage reads
- Historical item formats
- Addon storage
- Item presentation repairs
- Migration boundaries
- Restart persistence
๐งฉ Maintained Addon Ecosystem
The official coordinated addon bundle has grown into a 45-addon maintained ecosystem. ๐
The addons are built against the matching Slimefun Legacy core and validated as a coordinated set.
Major work since 4.1.61 includes improvements across:
๐ Networks
- Improved storage compatibility
- Preserved transfer priorities and routing behavior
- Improved storage lookup handling
- Added complete sort-mode cycling
- Improved display caching
- Correct cache invalidation when changing filters/sort modes
- Preserved existing Quantum Storage ordering and identities
๐ฆ BetterChests
- Safer legacy-storage handling
- Preserved older item readers
- Conservative refusal of ambiguous storage
