Tree capitator / cutting / felling, leaves decay and replanting abilities. Completely configurable.
Drop-in quality-of-life plugin for Paper servers: instant tree felling, tidy leaf cleanup, and automatic replanting with safety rails so mega-builds stay intact.

Why server owners love it
- โก One axe swing can clear an entire tree while axe wear, block limits and timing stay configurable.
- ๐ฑ Optional replanting with soil checks keeps forests alive, underwater too with UnderwaterTrees.
- ๐ก๏ธ Species-aware limits (per-tree caps, radii, durability rules) stop griefing before it starts.
- ๐ Builds stay safe: only trees with naturally grown foliage are felled, so log cabins and walls touching a tree stay standing, and player-placed leaves are never cleared away.
- ๐ฐ Respects land protection: WorldGuard, GriefPrevention & co. can deny every extra log, cleared leaf and replanted sapling.
- ๐งฉ Custom blocks from ItemsAdder, MMOItems, MythicCrucible and CraftEngine are left alone.
- ๐ Live config reloads merge new defaults automaticallyโno manual diffing: new settings are added with their comments, and the rest of your file stays exactly as you wrote it.
- ๐ Update checker (Modrinth + Hangar) and join reminders keep your fleet current.
- ๐ 14 bundled languages, all MiniMessage-powered, so you can style player + console feedback exactly the way you like.
Server requirements (as of Timberella 2.0.0)
- Paper 26.3.x (Spigot and vanilla are not supported).
- Java 25 runtime.
- Optional: a permissions plugin (LuckPerms, etc.) for fine-grained access to
/timberellacommands.
Setup in 3 steps
- Copy the latest
timberella-paper-<version>.jarintoplugins/. - Boot the server onceโ
config.yml,lang/, andleaf_mappings.ymlappear automatically. - Tweak
plugins/Timberella/config.yml(modules, safety caps, labels) and run/timberella reload.
That's it. Edits to config.yml are picked up automatically by the config watcher; after editing lang/ or leaf_mappings.yml, run /timberella reload.
Upgrading from 1.x
Swap the jar and start the server: your old files move to plugins/Timberella/backup-1.x/, fresh files are created with every setting you had changed carried over, and the console lists exactly what happened. Two defaults changed (require_natural_leaves and replant.sapling_source); the upgrade notes explain how to get the 1.x behavior back.
Everyday tips
- Use
sneak_modeto decide when felling triggers: only while sneaking (default), only while not sneaking, or always. - Players switch Timberella off and on for themselves with
/timberella toggle; admins can do it for others, even offline, with/timberella toggle <player>. - Flip specific logs, woods or fences on or off in
categories. Unknown materials are ignored safely. - By default, only saplings the felled tree actually dropped are replanted; set
replant.sapling_sourcetofreeto always replant for free. - Watch the console after reloads: Timberella shows which modules are active and which files changed. Turn on
log_detailto list every enabled material, leaf mapping, axe and sapling; a misspelled material won't show up there. - Update notifications show up in the console and, with
timberella.update.notify, for ops on join. Setupdate_check.notify_console_always_showntotrueif you also want the "no update" summary, and leaveupdate_check.filter_by_server_versionon so only builds for your Minecraft version are reported.
Supported languages
Timberella bundles each locale as a MiniMessage YAML file so you can recolor or restyle them freely:
